Another product that comes out of these small villages hidden away in the central highlands, and seen in most Sri Lankan households, both abroad and at home, are the popular engraved / embossed trays. Mostly hammered out of brass, or copper, and sometimes inlaid with silver, or other precious metal, these trays are as individual as the craftsmen who create them. The designs used in these trays are very similar to the designs in the ancient moonstones that are found at the temples and palaces in the ruined cities.
