Village Life - A Priest's Residence (Pansala)

A Buddhist temple complex (pansala), generally consists of (1) the "vihare" (shrine, where a statue of Lord Buddha takes a prominent place, along with statues of Gods, both Buddhist and Hindu), (2) a meeting hall, where the devotees can spend peaceful hours contemplating the teachings of Lord Buddha, (3) a sacred "Bo" Tree, preferably started from a sapling or seed of the "Ficus religiosa" under which Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment, (4) a "dagoba" (see Ruins - Anuradhapura"), and (5 ) a "pansala" residence of the attending Buddhist priest(s)
