Hill Country - Mahaveli River Near Kandy

At 206 miles (332 km) Mahaweli River is the longest river in Sri Lanka. Its head waters are in the central highlands, near Adams Peak (Sri Pada), and flows across two thirds of the island's area, collecting water from some forty tributaries, to join the sea near Trincomalee, in the north east coast.
Near Kandy (Maha Nuwara), the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya is boarded on three sides by the Mahaweli river adding to its beauty and maintain its well being by supplying the essential water supply.
