Life in hill country is truly serene. The clean fresh air, crystal clear spring water, and easy life style that all Sri Lankans are noted for, make this part of the country positively worth exploring. Here's a father with his children enjoying a quiet bath in the local river, while the mother is keeping a close eye for any mischief.
Most of the folks in the hill country are small farmers, with a generous sprinkling of government servants, teachers, and businessmen thrown in. In the towns and villages among the tea and rubber growing areas, there is also a large number of "estate Tamils" who work in these plantations.
