British, English Electric, 6 cylinder Williams powered
through electric transmission, green and silver livery, imported 1936.
Originally D1 Class of 1936 (before general re-classification of 1938 -
the thinking was D for Diesel). These three POWERED SETS were named Silver
Foam, Silver Spray and Silver Mist. After their scrapping
in 1955, their engines and transmissions were installed in the local experimental
M3 "Jayanthi" Class. |
The "Push-pulls" are
incorrectly referred to as "Power Sets". But the actual
Powered Sets were only the S1s. These were four car sets,
and each had one powered bogie, whereas push-pulls have one power car cum
control cab and a non powered control cab at each end, with some trailers
in between. |
