Aug 7 (FT) Former CIMA Sri Lanka Board Member Chandrin Fernando received the prestigious Chairmanship appointment for CIMA’s Middle East, South Asia and North Africa (MESANA) Regional Board recently. Fernando will oversee the MESANA Regional Board, comprising 28 countries. Previously, he held the post of MESANA Vice Chairman. Indian Oil’s Sri Lanka unit back in profit
Aug 7 (EN) Sri Lankan unit of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) returned to profit in the June 2018 quarter with net earnings of 246 million rupees compared with a loss of 135 million rupees a year ago. Sales of Lanka IOC fell 6.7% to 19.1 billion rupees in the quarter, according to the accounts filed with the stock exchange. Earnings per share for the quarter were 46 cent compared with a loss of 25 cents the year before. The stock closed at 32.10 rupees Monday, down 40 cents (1.23%).

Govt servants cry foul over taxing allowances

Legal action taken against 163 bogus job agencies

Drop in female participation in labour force
Aug 7 (Island) Female Labour force participation rate (LFPR) has dropped in the first quarter of 2018, to 33.5%, compared to 37.6% recorded in the first quarter of 2017, SL Labour Force Survey first quarter - 2018 report by Dept of Census & Statistics revealed.
