Bail denied to Ganeshalingam, accused of sexual harassment

Colombo, 21 (Asiantribune.com): Bail was denied to Prof. K.T. Ganeshalingam, popularly known as ‘Pongu Thamil Ganesh’ of the University of Jaffna, accused of sexually abusing well over 40 times, a thirteen-year girl Muthiah Yogeswary, who was employed as a domestic servant at his house, and has been ordered by the judge Mrs. Srinithi Nanthasekaran, to be remanded till the 1st of October 2005.Ganeshalingam was produced in the Jaffna Magistrate Court yesterday for an inquiry. Mr. Mudiappu Remidias appearing on behalf of the Human Rights Organisation for the underage girl objected to Ganeshalingham’s release as all the evidence reports on the case were not yet received. This time the TELO Leader Srikanth appeared for the accused disgraced professor. Earlier in the previous court date, the pro-LTTE TNA parliamentarian and lawyer N. Raviraj and former Tamil congress MP and lawyer Vinayagamoorthy appeared for the accused.
