Hill Country - A Gentle Walkway - Botanical Gardens

The gardens are designed as not only a preserve for endangered or rare plants, but as place for relaxation as well. The palm lined, long and winding walkways, the secluded picnic areas, the flowering shrubs and trees, the orchid houses with many hundreds of varieties, make these gardens truly a place of great pleasure for the casual visitor as well as the avid student of flora.

In the fifties and sixties parts of several award winning movies were filmed in these gardens. Movies like "The Bridge on the River Kwai," with (Sir) Alec Guinness and William Holden, and "The Elephant Walk" with Ava Gardner, were two of the most popular. Recently the film "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" with Harrison Ford, was also filmed in and around the gardens.
