The Main features of this curriculum are:
- Integration of learning experiences to four major streams: Basic
and Applied Sciences, Community Heatlth, Behavioural Sciences and Clinical
Sciences. The Applied Science stream is integrated on system-based
modules.
- Introduction of newer teaching/learning methods which emphasise student-centered
learning.
- Emphasis on Behavioural Sciences with the learning experiences
spread throughout the five year course.
- Early introduction of Clinical Sciences in the second term of
the first year itself.
- Broad-basing the experience of community oriented teaching and placing
more emphasis on clinical learning outside the tertiary care hospitals
and on ambulatory care practice.

Microbiology, parasitology, pathology, pharmacology, physiology, anatomy,
biochemistry, toxicology, medico-legal aspects and clinical disciplines
are INTEGRATED in system based module.
Special modules are designed to impart knowledge on medical ethics and
to deal with needs of special groups such as refugees.
