My name is Upali Wasantha Kumara. I am a Sri Lankan now living in New Zealand. I am working as a Design Engineer at the Southland District Council in the city of Invercargill, which is the southmost city in New Zealand (Perhaps the southmost city in the world....Cool...Yaah!)



I was born in Kegalle, a beautiful small town in Sri Lanka and studied at Ruwanwella Central College and Kegalu Maha Vidyalaya befor entering the University of Moratuwa. I obtained my B.Sc. Engineering Degree in 1983 from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and an MBA from University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka in 1994. My wife Anoma is an old Dharmapalian and worked at Pure Beverages Company in Sri Lanka



We emmigrated to this beautiful country, New Zealand in late 1995 along with the family. We have two lovely kids: Shiromal (3 years) and Shamila (eight months).

My work at present is mainly related to design and construction of bridges.In addition I have a strong background in computer programming and software development in civil engineering and project management related areas.



My favourite hobby is making and maintaing frienships. As we do not meet many Sri Lankans here, I am eager to get to know as many Sri Lankan cyber-friends as possible. That does not mean that I dislike the friend from other countries. Anybody is more than welcome. Please do write to me.
