    3. FROM RAJASURIYA ORATION TO ORGAN FAILURE ON THE WWW

    This years Rajasuriya Memorial Oration on "Organ Failure Management - From Misery to Excellence" was delivered on February 6th, 1996 by Prof. Rizwi Sheriff, Professor of Medicine, University of Colombo. He spoke of Heart, Lung, Liver, Bone Marrow and Renal Failure; and presented a glimpse of what transplant surgery has done to relieve the misery and improve the quality of life of these patients.

    4. HISTORY OF MEDICINE

    This years Rajasuriya Oration saw the award of the first Rajasuriya Prize for History of Medicine. The Rajasuriya History of Medicine Prize is awarded by the Faculty of Medicine Colombo through an examination which is open to any medical student or pre-intern doctor.
