All of us have at one time or another read a paper in a journal and have had second thoughts about it. The biggest problem that we face in analysing such a paper is the lack of knowledge on how to do it and the lack of knowledgable people who can advice us on how to do it. But now that help is online.
The series of 10 articles by Trisha Greenhalgh on HOW TO READ A PAPER is available on line. Here is the table of contents.

4. READERS COLUMN
In this month readers column we publish the reply sent to us by the Director General Health Services regarding publishing circulars from the Health Ministry through medi info.
>Dear Shyam,
>Thank you for the suggestion. We would much prefer to publish the
>circs. etc on our home page. Address - www.lk
>Please circulate this info. I will take action to do so stat.
>Regards !
>Dr Reggie Perera
.... and this is what one of our subscribers had to say:
>When the MoH circular is
out, just send it electronically or post it.
>There is no need to ask for permission when it is Public Knowledge.
>What you may need to discuss
is whether they (Ministry) will give a copy
>as it is being typed. Now that will give the bureaucrats much joy as
two
>regulations of the Establishment Code might possibly be violated (see
the
>section on Prohibition of notices being broadcast through Andabera
before
>writing in the Puskola - 1845 as modified in 1876). That would mean
8
>letters to the Ministry of Public Administration and one more to the
AG?
>And if you publish this under
my name you will ......(you could of course
>publish this an anonymous comment).
