WHO HELPED BALASINGHAM (99 Aug 25)

According to "The Island" of Monday the 23rd questions are being asked by Sri Lankan government sources as to how Anton Balasingham managed to go to London recently. He went to London through Thailand, Singapore. Balasingham had been in Wanni jungles since 1995.

Kalaya discussed this issue at the time of Balasingham's arrival in London. Balasingham and his wife hold British passports.

Sri Lankan sources now say: "such movements could not have been made without the blessings of very powerful foreign powers". With moves to start negotiations with the LTTE the presence of Balasingham in London looking for mediators has to be questioned and the government of Sri Lanka should take up this matter with the highest authorities in Britain. As we have said earlier the Sri Lankan government should request Britain to extradite Balasingham.
