PANSUKULA ON THE PACKAGE (99 Aug 04)
The Ruhunu Rata Bhikku Peramuna and the Ruhuna Jathika Ekabhadda Peramuna have jointly organised the Pansukula rites at Matara on the so-called devolution package on Monday the 9th. This is in connection with the recent promise given by the president to introduce the package as a bill to the parliament before the 19th of August.
Rev. Omare Kassapa Thero who is the secretary of the Ruhuna Rata Bhikku Peramuna said that a large gathering of Bhikkus is expected at Matara for the Pansukula rites. The Ruhunu Rata Bhikku Peramuna has invited the Jathika Sangha Sabha and the Deshapremi Bhikshu Peramuna to participate at the Pansukula. They have also invited many responsible lay organisations to come to Matara on the 9th. Rev. Kassapa Thero said that however, they have to be very careful as some irresponsible organisation pretending to be movements against Tamil terrorism but actually terrorist and opportunistic could participate and create problems for the organisers. The Rev. said already an organisation has informed various individuals through e-mail that they have been invited to come for the Pansukula when no such invitation has gone to this particular oraganisation.
