LTTE THREATS TO MP'S (99 Jul 14)

The LTTE has ordered the political parties not to operate in the eastern province. This means that none of the political parties can engage in political activities in the region and the leaders have been forced to take refugee in Kolomba. The LTTE threat has come amidst reports that the government was planning to hold local government elections in the eastern province.

As a result of the LTTE threats several MP's have moved to Kolomba. Among them is the deputy minister of telecommunication Mr. M. L. M. Hisbullah. Ironically the TULF member of parliament Mr. Joseph Pararajasingham, who is a strong ally of the LTTE has also been warned not to meet the public and carry out any political activities in the province.

This clearly shows the attitude of the LTTE and how "democratic" they are. It is with this bunch of murderers that the NGO's and the hierarchy of the Christian and the Catholic Churches and the western governments want the Sri Lankan government to negotiate.
