LTTE THREATS TO SONIA (99 May 26)
The Indian intelligence unit RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) has warned that the LTTE is plotting to kill her during the forthcoming election campaign. According to " The Hindu" newspaper the Indian government has sent a communication to the police top brass informing them a meeting of the LTTE where they had discussed that an attempt could be made on Mrs. Sonia Gandhi's life by using a car bomb.
The LTTE has every reason to worry about the returning of a congress government in India, as they know that the congress will never forgive them for the killing of Rajiv Gandhi. If the congress returns under the leadership of Mr. Gandhi's widow then the LTTE would find it very difficult to operate in India.
It is clear that RAW is also trying to convince the congress of their line on Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka has to be very careful even if Mrs. Gandhi becomes the prime minister as she may be compelled by the Indian Kautillyas to force the Sri Lankan government to accept a federal constitution with Mr. Vardharaja Perumal as the chief minister of the provincial council of the north and the east.
