UNP TALKS WITH LTTE (99 Apr 28)
It is now clear that the UNP had tried to talk to the LTTE in Europe. Mr. A.C.S. Hameed who had represented the government in talks with the LTTE during the UNP regimes have been entrusted with resuming talks on behalf of the UNP. Mr. Pararajasekeram, the Madakalapu district TULF MP has played a key role in the talks.
Though Mr. Hameed in a statement release in Kolomba denies that he has had talks with the LTTE it is clear from his statement that there has been some preparation for talks. Mr. Hameed does not deny that. In this connection we have to be conscious of the visits by Dr. Jayalath Jayawardhane the UNP MP to Madu in order to meet the LTTE leaders.
The Tamil racists have now come to the conclusion the PA government would not "deliver the goods" and they are now working out strategies to come to some understanding with the UNP. Perhaps they are now working out the details of the so-called asymmetric devolution proposed by Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe. This is nothing but a confederation and the stage is set for the next UNP betrayal.
