PLOTE TELO OFFICES CLOSED (99 Feb 17)
The army has ordered PLOTE and TELO to close down their offices in the district of Vavuniya after the clashes between them . The members of these groups will not be allowed to carry arms and they will be arrested if they are found with any weapons.
The army is of the view that these group members carrying arms is a threat to the general public and on occasions they have been a threat to the army and the civil administration.
PLOTE and TELO are two of the groups that took arms against the state. They were weakened by the LTTE and now they claim that they support the armed forces. However the truth is that they need the support of the army for their survival as they are constantly under threat from the LTTE. The government should take action to see that these groups are unarmed.
