PRABHAKARAN ARRESTS MULLATIV LEADER (98 Dec 23)
Prabhakaran has placed under "arrest" the LTTE Mullativ leader and three of his associates. They had been taken into custody at Mulliawela on Sunday the twentieth.
According to "Divaina" and "The Island" the Mullativ leader has refused to hand over a consignment of weapons to a LTTE activist named by Prabhakaran. Instead he has handed it over to another group.
The Mullativ leader and the three others have been taken to a torture camp in close proximity to the hide-out of Prabhakaran., according to the newspapers.
Apparently there are reports of dissension in the LTTE and of "an emerging degree of resistance within some quarters of the terrorist outfit to Prabhakaran's orders." With the failure of Prabhakaran to establish an Eelam, naturally there will be challenges to Prabhakaran's leadership in the future. Prabhakaran who has already killed many leaders including Mahaththaya will find it difficult to command hundred percent loyalty from the LTTE cadres.
