LTTE GIVES FINAL WARNING (98 Sep 23)
A terrorist organisation affiliated to the LTTE has issued a "final warning" to all members of the local councils in the Yapanaya peninsula. The organisation, which calls itself the Movement for the Liberation of Tamils, uses the slogan 'fear is the key'. According to "The Island" of September 23rd the LTTE affiliated organisation has sent letters to all municipal councilors threatening them and asking them to quit forthwith.
These letters come in the wake of the murder of the mayor of the Yapanaya Municipal council and eleven others (Yapanaya Mayorless Again). The killings of two mayors make the threats real and most members now have to operate from Kolomba.
The TULF however continues to talk of negotiations with the LTTE. If the TULF leader think that they can survive by pleasing the LTTE then they are sadly mistaken.
