VEN PIYADASSI THERO PASSES AWAY (98 Aug 19)
It is with grief we announce the death of Rev. Piyadassi Thero, the Viharadhikari of the Vajiraramaya. The Rev. Thero passed away on the eighteenth of August.Rev. Piyadassi Thero was not well for sometime and was treated in the intensive care unit of the national hospital in Kolomba during the last few days. The Rev. Thero was eighty four years old at the time of death.
Rev Piyadassi Thero, who was ordained in 1934 was a Shishya of Rev. Pelane Shri Vajiragngnana Thero and had his early education as a lay person at Nalanda Vidyalaya. The Rev. Thero had visited many countries on Dharmadutha work and had a number of foreigners among the shishyas.
Rev. Piyadassi Thero was the authour of about sixty books and had been a member of the board of studies of the Buddhist and Pali university. May the Rev. Thero attain Nibbana.
