MARKERS AND MAPPING

A genetic marker is a simply inherited genetic trait with readily recognizable alleles. These markers are useful in family and population studies. An example is the ABO system. Gene mapping is the assignment of genes to specific chromosomal locations. The Human Genome Project is responsible for this for this International study.
