PATERNITY TESTING
This requires samples of blood from the child, the mother and the putative father. Paternity can only be excluded, but not proven, with certainty using genetic markers like blood groups. Table 2. The markers used are the ABO, Rh, MNs, P, Kell, Duffy and HLA systems. Paternity is excluded if neither of the putative father's two alleles at a locus is present in the child, or if the father lacks an allele that is present in the child but not in the mother.
