Minister Susil Premajayantha meets members of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League in Tokyo

Hon.Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy and the President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League during an official visit to Japan met with members of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League on Monday, 7th October in Tokyo. The luncheon, hosted by Hon. Masahiko Komura, President of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League and Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party was held in honour of Hon.Susil Premajayantha, currently the President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League.

Senior Japanese parliamentary members attended the luncheon and discussed matters of mutual interest with the Hon.Minister. Hon.Susil Premajayantha as President of the Sri Lanka-Japan Parliamentary League spoke of the strong relations that both Japan and Sri Lanka have continued and maintained over the years. The Hon.Minister spoke of intended exchanges between the Leagues in both countries and warmly welcomed members of the Japanese league to visit Sri Lanka. Hon.Yuko Obuchi, Secretary General of the Japan-Sri Lanka Parliamentary League and Former Senior Vice Minister of Finance and Member of the House of Representatives, in response, conveyed the intention of the Japanese Parliamentary League members to visit Sri Lanka in January 2014.

At a meeting held with Hon.Yoshitaka Shindo, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, the Hon.Minister further discussed the ongoing deliberations on the introduction of digitalization to Sri Lanka. The Hon.Minister also extended his gratitude to the Government of Japan for the assistance rendered to Sri Lanka over the years and paid special emphasis to the longstanding work of JICA in Sri Lanka.
