Examinations Commissioner W.M.J. Pushpakumara said yesterday evaluation of the 2012 Grade 5 scholarship test-paper would take place as scheduled on Monday despite education professionals urging that allegations of a possible leak should be probed first to prevent any injustice to the students.

Mr. Pushpakumara said the evaluation of the scholarship examination would not be affected as a result of the evaluations of the 2012 GCE A/L examination having been put off.

"Senior officials in charge of the scholarship examination evaluations will meet before the evaluation process begsins," he said and added that the evaluations would end on September 8 as scheduled Teacher unions said they had not made a decision to withdraw from evaluating the scholarship examination.

"Our decision to withdraw from A/L paper marking was based on the academics' withdrawal. We did not wish to assume duties of academics in the evaluation process as it will bring down the standards of the examination," Ceylon Teachers' Service Union (CTSU) General Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe said.
