Z score and exam results will come separately

The government is considering the possibility of issuing Z scores separately after the release of the GCE A/L examination results.

Accordingly, it is being considered to release the Z-score after the re-correction of the results. With the implementation of this method it is expected to avoid difficulties that arise relating to the examination results.

The tentative decision had been arrived at during a discussion held with the participation of President’s Secretary Lalith Weerathunga, Education Ministry Secretary Gotabaya Jayarathna, Examinations Commissioner General W.M.N.J. Pushpakumara.

Meanwhile Attorney General Palitha Fernando said his department would mediate to settle the current dispute caused after the release of the new Z score values of the AL examination. .

Presently they are examining the maximum possible measures to be taken to settle the matter within the existing legal frame, said the AG.

He said he would use the opportunity of handling the Fundamental Rights Case filed by some students on the new Z-scores for the purpose of mediating .
