The JVP stressed the need to have this debate as an adjournment motion at the parliamentary business committee meeting yesterday. Initially, the government representatives including Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa opposed the move saying that adjournment motion could not be taken in a piecemeal manner. However, they later agreed to the proposal. Accordingly, it was decided that the debate would take place on July 6. Source: Daily Mirror - Sri Lanka
