As and when a tax is imposed on an imported item, it continues to be implemented generally, and it would not be possible to adopt a different method of application of the same tax to another sector, he said at a media briefing yesterday.

He said that once the tax was imposed no reduction was possible but that there might be options to provide certain other concessions but that no decision had been taken yet regarding that.
