Mervyn vows to end politics of hatred

Labour Minister Mervyn Silva said yesterday he would resign from politics if the government failed to keep its promises to the people by 2013. Participating in a religious ceremony held at the Uppalawanna Sri Vishnu Temple on Kandy Road, Kelaniya, the minister vowed to eliminate hatred and revenge from politics. He said President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s aim was to bring about a society where everyone could exist harmoniously and work for the development of the country. He said that both his and President Rajapaksa’s families had been threatened with death during the recent election campaign.
