At a media briefing held at the Kotte Solis Hall yesterday (13)in support of Gen. Fonseka’s Presidential candidature by the UNF constituent parties , Opposition and UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe said ,at the beginning , Mahinda Rajapkse family group tried to win elections by shedding crocodile tears. That failed. Now they are trying to win by shedding blood.

Referring to the cold blooded murder of Kusuma of Beliatta when she was on the way to a UNP meeting at Tissamaharama,the Medamulana Rajapakse family must hold itself accountable fully for this murder. They cannot escape from that liability and responsibility.

The UNP and our entire membership express our profound condolence to the bereaved family in their moment of grief .

A ‘nil balakaya’ Van has been used to commit this murder . This murder has all the hallmarks of Lasantha murder. This murder was also committed by assassins who came in a motor cycle. Nobody can talk against our Maha Raja . If you do you are murdered. This is the situation in the country.

You have no right to attend a meeting that is against him. If the Maha Raja thinks he can win by killing , he is sadly mistaken for all those who tried that have ended in disaster . What the Maha Raja will be exhibiting is his total bankruptcy and his brutal despotism, no more no less.
