Seven Days of Hope - Voting Drive
Educate Lanka Foundation was founded in 2006 with a mission of empowering underprivileged students in Sri Lanka to achieve a quality education. The Foundation is operated on a 100% volunteer basis by the young Sri Lankan expatriates in the U.S. Educate Lanka currently provides its scholarships to about 200 deserving students from all age groups throughout Sri Lanka. It currently contributes $25,000 annually for these scholarships. Thus far, the fundraising has been conducted primarily through individual sponsorships of students and through various fundraising events carried out in the U.S. With a donation of $1 million, Educate Lanka is confident of expanding its efforts by providing scholarships to thousands of more deserving students and undertaking educational infrastructure projects in Sri Lanka. With such a large donation, the Foundation also wishes to expand its scholarship model to other developing countries.
