President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared open the common facilities building and a new swimming pool for the Defence Services College on 7th December 2007. He promised to provide more facilities to bring up the standards of the Armed Forces in the future and appreciated the valiant service they did for the benefit of the nation by defeating brutal terrorism.

Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, Defence Secretary Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa and principle of the college Mr Pramuditha Wickramasinghe were present. Army Commander Major General Jagath Jayasuriya, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and Air Force commander Air Marshal Roshan Goonathilaka also participated the occasion.
