Sri Lankan President calls on Vietnam President

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa was welcomed by President of Vietnam Ngyeun Minh Triet at President Palace during his three day official visit to Vietnam on 22nd October. The President was accorded a Guard of Honour by Vietnamese Forces at the Palace.

President Rajapaksa introduced his Sri Lankan delegation to the Vietnam President and later had bilateral talks with his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Minh Triet and several other high ranking officials at the Palace.

During the meeting Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa and Vietnam Planning and Investment Minister Mr.Vo Hung Phuc signed the first agreement of Protection and Promotion of Investment between Sri Lanka and Vietnam. The second agreement of 'Memorandum of Understanding' signed by Foreign Minister Bogollagama and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Cultural Co-operation between Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and Ministry of Cultural and National Heritage of Sri Lanka.

The third agreement was signed between Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Ministry of Defence, Law and Order of Sri Lanka on 'Prevention and Combating Crime.
