SLFP dances to the tune of the JVP

Mar 1 (IL) Former Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanaike has not been included in the National List owing to the pressure exerted by the J.V.P. at the last minute said Lands Minister Rajitha Senearatne at a rally held in Horana.

He noted that Former Minister Anuruddha Ratwatta's name was also deleted from the National List due to the intervention of the JVP.

He said the JVP had pressurised former Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapakse to contest the Hambantota district. He added that JVP. was working to defeat Mahinda Rajapakse. He claimed the aim of the JVP is to send SLFP stalwarts to political wilderness.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne pointed out that the President has no alternative other than dissolving parliament and call for snap polls to please the JVP.

The President has fallen in to the trap laid by the JVP he said. Ratnasiri Wickramanayake was a former secretary of the SLFP. He joined the Mahajana Party to express his solidarity with President Kumaratunga.

Later he became the Prime Minister but today he has been sent home without considering his service to the party.

The Lands Minister claimed that the SLFP is now dancing to the tune of the JVP. He said the honest SLFP supporters should consider these aspects. The people will give a fitting reply to the SLEP-JVP alliance, he said.
