Deputy Minister of Health, Nutrition and Welfare Sajith Premadasa said our Sri Lankan donors, living in foreign countries, were taking a great interest to donate very important equipment which were urgently needed for the hospitals of our country." The rules and regulations prevailing in our country were very often discouraged the donors" he said.' He was addressing a meeting at Dehiwela to mark the distribution 120 mattresses, hydrolic beds, several wheel chairs, a stock of surgical equipment and oxygen required for operations in hospitals and Police. These items had been sent to Ven. Haputale Pangnarama Thera, the Chairman, Relief Foundation by the Mr. H.A. Podi Appuhamy residing in England.
Mr. H.A. Podi Appuhamy, a social worker said "I got valuable assistance from the Police to carry out my activities. I thank all police officers including Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Mr. Gamini Randeniya and Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. W.P. Dayaratne. They have encouraged me very much in this connection.." he said.
