Lankan peace keepers in East Timor honoured

Mar 14 (InfoLanka) Awarding of United Nations Medals to 38 Sri Lankan Police Officers who contributed their services to East Timor (the first nation to declare independence in the new millennium) was ceremonially held recently in East Timor.

United Nations Special Representative to the Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma, Foreign Minister of East Timor Jose Ramos Horta, United Nations Police Commissioner in East Timor Peter J. Miller and several other distinguished guests were present on this occasion.

The Police Officers who were awarded the UN Peace Keeping Medal are:
