Defence Ministry says, LTTE baggages inspected

Feb 18 (InfoLanka) The Defence Ministry yesterday said no package in the possession of the LTTE delegation to the Berlin peace talks left the Katunayake Airport premises without due inspection.

The baggage had been inspected in Germany at the point of embarkation prior to their boarding.The Sri Lanka Custom's had also done the baggage clearance prior to their exit.

Issuing a statement in response to news reports published in the media on February 16, military spokesman, Brigadier Sanath Karunaratne said the government had directed the Commander of the Air Force to assist the airport authorities to provide security to the delegates and when the LTTE delegation transit at the airport their security is also looked after in the regular manner by the Airport authorities backed by the Sri Lanka Air Force.
