The inaugural address for the event will be delivered by His Excellency Dr. Choi Ki Chul, Ambassador for the Republic of Korea. His Excellency Ashok K. Kantha, High Commissioner for India, will deliver the keynote address. The opening ceremony will be followed by presentations by each of the seven Faculties of the University, also at the same session.

On the 13th of May, 2010, each Faculty will be conducting academic sessions at their respective Faculties. The parallel academic events will provide a forum for the university community to explore the theme, "Knowledge Economy and Higher Education" from the perspective of a variety of disciplines.

The keynote address at the academic sessions of the respective faculties will be delivered by the following eminent persons - Dr. Anura Ekanayake, Chairman of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (Faculty of Arts), Dr. Upali Sedara, Director, National Institute of Education (Faculty of Education), Mr. K. Kanag-Ishwaran, President's Counsel (Faculty of Law), Dr. Nimal Sandaratne, Economist (Faculty of Management & Finance), Dr. Palitha Abeykoon, Consultant, WHO, and Prof. Lakshman Rathnayake, Director, IRQUE Project (Faculty of Science). The Faculty of Graduate Studies will hold a panel discussion on the theme "Public- Private Partnership in Higher Education in Sri Lanka" with the participation of Prof. A.D.V. de S. Indraratna, Emeritus Professor of Economics (Chair), Dr. Anura Ekanayake, President, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and Dr. Nihal Smarapuli, Executive Director, Board of Investment.
