No SLFP PM candidate

Asked whether the coalition would announce their prime ministerial candidate in the run-up to the April 8 poll, the SLFP General Secretary said there was no need for that. Addressing the media at the Mahaweli Centre, he said that they would decrease the number of ministers in the next parliament. Asked whether it was possible to keep the number of ministers below 40 with so many aspirants in the constituent parties of the UPFA, he said that the coalition had tackled far more serious issues. It would not be an impossible task to reach an agreement following discussions with partners, he said. Courtesy: Island
