Heavyweights come on National List

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake and former Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara are included on the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) National List which was handed over to Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake yesterday. Mr. Lokubandara who contested the 2004 general election as a member of the United National Party (UNP) topped the list of preferential votes in the Badulla district and with the help of the opposition was elected Speaker by a narrow margin. The others in the UPFA list are, D.M. Jayaratne, Dulles Alahapperuma, G.L. Peiris, M.H. Mohamed, Wishva Warnapala, D.W. Gunasekara, Tissa Vitarana, Githanjana Gunawardane, Ven. Ellawala Medhanada Thera, Muttu Sivalingam, Shanmugam Jegadeeswaram, Achala Jagoda, Mohamed Mussamil, W.J.M. Lokubandara, Vinayagamurthy Muraliththarn, Anuruddha Ratwatte, Ven. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera, J.R.P. Suriyapperuma, Janaka Bandara, Rajiva Wijesinha, Lesley Devendra, Chandrasekaran Sanmuganathan, A.H.M. Azwer, Malani Fonseka, Dr. Harishchandra Wijetunga, Sarath Kongahage, U.L. Shaul Hameed and Kamala Ranatunga. The United National Party (UNP) in its National List has included General Secretary Tissa Attanayake, Chief Opposition Whip Joseph Michael Perera and National Development Bank Chief Executive Officer Eran Wickramaratne. The others in its list are K.N. Choksy, Rukman Senanayake, Tilak Marapana, Harsha de Silva, D.M. Swaminathan, R. Yogarajan, A.H. Hasan Alavi, M. T. Hasan Ali, Nizam Kariapper, S.L. Manoharan, Swarna Obeysekara, Ruwan Guruge, Mailwaganam Tilakaraj, Wimal Gunawardane, Anoma Gamage, Aruna Zoysa, Mashoor Sinnelebbe, Manikkam Logasingham, Mangaleswari Jeyaratnam, Amir Mohamed Faize, M.S. Sellasamy, Abdul Karim Mohamed Azmath Marikkar, Cyril Dharmawardane, P. Ganeshan, P.V.Gunaratne and S. Manoharan. The Democratic National Alliance led by detained General Sarath Fonseka in its National List has named Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Tiran Alles, Sanjeewa Ranatunga, Sirimasiri Hapuarachchi, Ariyawansa Dissanayake, S.B. Hettiarachchi, Kapila Chandana Perera, Athula Chandragupta Thenuwara, Jinasena Watogala Hevage, Karunaratne Herath, Chandima Peiris, Swinitha Weerasinghe, Sarath Chandrasoma de Silva, Kingsley Lause, Mahinda Tennakoon, Suriya Gunasekara, K.S. Dissanayake, D.M.G. Ekanayake, Bimal Asuntha Perera, Jayanthi Renuka Sumanasinghe , Duminda Nagamuwa, Shanthilal Fernando and Wasantha Malani.
