Pre-school teacher dies after being attacked with sharp weapon
Apr 8 (AD) A preschool teacher was murdered early this morning (7) in the Kobbekaduwa area in Peradeniya. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Anjali Chapa, a resident of Muruthalawa. Chapa was pronounced dead upon admission to the Ilukthanna Hospital after she was attacked with a sharp weapon on a road in the Ginihena area in Kobbekaduwa, Peradeniya. Sri Lanka adds trousers and skirts to lawyer’s attire, removes frocks
Apr 8 (EN) SL govt has included trousers and skirts as legally accepted dress codes in courts for female judges and Attorneys-at-Laws through a new gazette published last week while removing the initially permitted frocks from the list. Priyani Soysa: Renowned professor emerita of paediatrics passes away
Apr 8 (AD) Priyani Soysa, professor emerita of paediatrics at the Uni of Colombo, has passed away. Prof. Soysa was aged 97 at the time of her demise. From 1966-1991, she served as the Professor of Paediatrics at the Uni of Ceylon (Uni of Colombo), becoming the first woman in SL to be appointed to a professorial chair. Hailing from Moratuwa, Prof. Soysa was educated at the Princess of Wales College, following which she completed her MBBS at the Faculty of Medicine at Uni of Colombo.

Environmentalists in Mannar see proposed Adani wind turbines as latest disaster

Apr 8 (Island) Govt makes 13 rupees from each egg imported from India, All-Island Poultry Farmers’ Association (AIPA) chairman Ajith Gunasekara said. The real benefits of importing these eggs have not been felt by the people, he said. Gunasekara said that most shops still do not have eggs despite imports.
