Export earnings from tea and spices drop by 10.4% and 18.3%
May 16 (Island) Total earnings from the exports of agricultural goods in February 2022 declined by 2.1%, compared to February 2021, due to the decrease in export earnings from tea, spices and unmanufactured tobacco, External Sector Performance Report- March 2022 of CB shows. The drop in export earnings from tea by 10.4% (y-o-y) was mainly due to lower export volumes (a decline of 9.1%), while average export prices (a decline of 1.4%) also partly contributed to this decline.

Payments for two LP gas shipments to be made tomorrow
May 16 (AD) Litro Gas company says that USD 07 million is to be paid tomorrow for two shipments of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Sampath Bank’s Profit down by 4.9%
May 16 (EN) Profits at Sampath Bank Plc fell 4.9% to 4.9 billion rupees in the March 2022 quarter from a year dragged down as the bank made extra provisions for loan losses, despite higher foreign exchange gains, interim accounts showed. Interest income grew 18.9% in the March 2022 quarter to 26.6 billion rupees, while interest expenses fell 1% to 12 billion rupees. Net interest income grew 42.5% to 14.6 billion. NDB net down 77% in March quarter

May 16 (DM) About 80% of private buses will be out of service starting from tomorrow due to the unavailability of diesel, IPPBA Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said.
