Apr 27 (SCMP) Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe’s visit to Sri Lanka on Tuesday is as much about boosting political and economic cooperation as it is about military links, experts say. Wei will become the second senior Chinese official to have visited the country since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic when he arrives for the 3-day visit, which follows a trip by China’s foreign policy chief Yang Jiechi in Oct 2020. Customs seizes cocaine worth Rs. 2.5 M sent from Jamaica |
Apr 27 (AD) The Narcotics Control Unit of Sri Lanka Customs has seized a cocaine consignment sent to Sri Lanka from Jamaica concealed in a personal gift parcel. The parcel in question, airmailed through a private courier service based in Seeduwa was taken into custody today (April 27). Sri Lanka to get 1,440,000 more US-funded COVAX vaccines by end May |
