Brief Introduction
Being an old girl of Good Shepherd Convent Kotahena - was a national athlete, net-ball player and basketball player in Sri Lanka.
Presently working with the United Nations in New York as the Personal Assistant to the Under-Secretary-General for Disarmament Affairs. Living in USA for the last 13 years.
Was a student of Lylie Godridge and sang with church choirs and now a member of the United Nations International choir.
Though many miles away, I did not lose the touch with the lilting Sri Lanka music and gradually built up my interest in Sinhala songs as a hobby, but the hobby turned out to be somewhat a lucrative exercise having built my own CD called PUNCHI KUMARIYE with all sinhala songs.
My songs are directed by Rohana Weerasinghe, Stanley Peiris and Upali Kannangara. I sing two duets with Upali Kannangara. I launched my CD on 27th March at Holiday Inn, Sri Lanka.
I relish singing patriotic, love, peace and classical songs - found that SONG was the best instrument to send positive messages across to masses.
I had an extremely good response from those who heard my songs in Sri Lanka as well as in the US. I am now preparing myself to launch my second CD. I intend travelling to Sri Lanka whenever time permits to complete my recordings.
ABOVE ALL, I AM PROUND TO CALL MYSELF A SRI LANKAN I TREASURE MY BEAUTIFUL CULTURE !!
