The Sri Lankan Cultural Society of Western Australia - The Sri Lankan Community was expanding rapidly in Western Australia in the 1980s due to the various expanded migration programmes. The State Government of the era recognised the needs of the new migrant communities and took the initiative to assist the new migrants with grants to establish themselves as community organisations in this new country of theirs. The Student Volunteer Program - The Student Volunteer Program (TSVP) is a Canadian sustainable development organisation that participates in rehabilitation and redevelopment activities in various developing countries. It is exclusively and independently administered by students and recent graduates interested in discovering, learning and participating in international development to effect global change. Its primary sectors of work include Information and Communication Technologies, Health, and Education. To date, the organisation has placed 22 volunteers on overseas internships and has a membership of more than 400. Its activities are currently focused in South Asia, particularly in the country of Sri Lanka.

The Student Volunteer Program - The Student Volunteer Program (TSVP) is an international development organisation managed by Canadian high school, college and university students. To date, 11 students have been placed through the Program on short and long-term volunteer projects in Sri Lanka.

TORONTO MAHAVIHARA, CANADA - The Toronto Mahavihara, a Sri Lankan Buddhist temple, is the oldest Theravada temple in Canada, and second oldest Sri Lankan temple in North America. It celebrated its silver jubilee last year. It caters to the spiritual, social and moral educational needs of Sri Lankan expatriates and local people in Canada and eastern United States.
